Opening Ceremony


Day 1, 16 September 2026, 9 pm, Lecture Hall “Innere Medizin

The Tinnitus Research Initiative (TRI) Conference 2026 begins with an inspiring Opening Ceremony celebrating collaboration, innovation, and progress in tinnitus research. It will begin with a musical welcome by harpist Anna Paulina Teichmann, whose performance will create a calm and reflective atmosphere, offering an artistic opening to the conference. This musical introduction will lead into the official opening address by Prof. Dr. Kroemer, CEO of Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, formally inaugurating TRI 2026 and setting the scientific and intellectual tone for the days ahead.

Welcome remarks will follow from Prof. Dr. med. Birgit Mazurek and Prof. Dr. med. Berthold Langguth, the Scientific Directors of the Congress. Prof. Dr. med. Birgit Mazurek also serves as Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the Foundation Tinnitus and Hearing Charité. Further greetings will be delivered by Gunhild Flöter, who is the Managing Director of the Foundation Tinnitus and Hearing Charité since October 2021.

  • Aage R. Møller-Award Ceremony for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of tinnitus research
     
  • Special Award Ceremony for outstanding support of the TRI


Day 2, 17 September 2026, 11 am, Lecture Hall “Innere Medizin

  • Taiwan Tinnitus Association (TTA): Lifetime Achievement Award


Day 3, 18 September 2026, 5-6 pm, Lecture Hall "Innere Medizin"

  • Ceremony Best Poster Presentation Award 
    The Best Poster Presentation Award submitted for the TRI Conference 2026 will be donated by the American Tinnitus Association (ATA).
     
  • Ceremony Travel Grant, donated by Tinnitus Quest
    This year, early-career researchers who have completed their PhD within the past five years are invited to apply for a travel grant of 1,000 EUR per recipient to attend the TRI conference, plus an all expenses paid (max. 2,000 EUR) invite to attend Tinnitus Quest’s Tinnitus Hackathon in late 2026 (date and location tbd).

    Note: Please only apply for the Travel Grant if you share the research philosophy of Tinnitus Quest and are willing to attend the Tinnitus Quest Hackathon 2026. We strongly recommend that you check out the Tinnitus Quest website and read the pages under the “Research” section before applying. For application, please send a motivation letter. It should include how your work and career ambition aligns with the mission of Tinnitus Quest, and why you wish to attend the TRI conference and the Hackathon.   • TRI Assembly & Presentation of next TRI Conference
    The TRI Assembly encourages collaboration, raises awareness, and sparks innovation in tinnitus research and treatment. The assembly programme will also include a preview of the upcoming TRI conference, 15 – 18th September 2027, Washington, USA.
     
  • Farewell Ceremony
    The event concludes with a heartfelt farewell to all participants of the TRI 2026, celebrating their collaborative achievements and inspiring future joint research endeavors.

    This will be followed by the presentation of the 4th World Tinnitus Congress & the "XV International Tinnitus Seminar - From Mechanism to Meaning — The ABC of Tinnitus“, 30 June – 2 July 2027, London, UK.
